OUR PROCESS
EPOXY
Our brand of choice is Ecopoxy. All of their products are 100% plant based with very low VOC and can be used without the need for masks.

Ecopoxy has two products that we use for our projects. UVpoxy is for pours up to 1/4" (absolute max of 1/2"), recoat time of four hours and cure time of 24 hours, working time of 20 minutes.

Flowcast by Ecopoxy is for pours up to 1/75" thick and has a working time of 8-12 hours and a cure time of 72 hours.
SOURCING WOOD
Our location in Alberta, Canada makes sourcing hard woods an ongoing challenge. Walnut typically will come fromOntario, Canada to keep purchasing costs away from US exchange costs (typically 20-35% more than Canadian dollars). Maple will come from either Ontario or British Columbia.
CHOOSING WOOD
At MacMillan Creations we LOVE ugly, cracked, knotty, misshapen wood!! It is all these imperfections that give us the opportunity to add a rainbow of coloured epoxy to turn wood destined for the firepit into amazing, cherished creations.

As environmental stewardship becomes increasingly important and gains momentum worldwide, when we source wood for our clients we look to use urban salvaged wood as much as possible. Urban salvaged wood are trees that are taken down in cities when they become dangerous or dying and repurposed to keep them out of land fills and firepits.
